Creativity, design and coffee with Bea Bascuñán and Albert Jornet.
From their home in Valencia, Bea's home town, this pair of creatives who are passionate about coffee tell us about their life and some of the creative projects they have implemented with coffee as the central frame.
Bea and Albert decided to work independently and on their own after years of training and experience in design. They both share a concern that led them to explore different ways of expressing their creativity. From Barba Skeen Atelier, a screen printing studio, one of their first projects, to founding their own independent publishing house, Publications for Pleasure.

A few years ago, almost by chance, and after attending a specialty coffee event in Barcelona, they created a link with the world of artisan coffee and began to see it from a different, more complex perspective. Since then they have implemented several coffee-related creative projects, one of which is their main source of pride: SOLO Magazine, about specialty coffee – the only publication of its type in Spain. There have been a total of six issues since its first publication in 2015, with the aim of encompassing, exploring and celebrating the world of specialty coffee.

More recently, Albert tells us, they have also opened their own coffee and newsstand kiosk in Valencia – a part of the News & Coffee project. This initiative seeks to bring newsstand kiosks back to city neighbourhoods, offering a wide range of quality, independent magazines. These unconventional kiosks also offer the perfect accompaniment to a time for reading: a good specialty coffee.
