There are two ways to prepare patacones in the waffle maker: one version uses less oil, where we cut the plantain into pieces about 5 cm long, remove the peel, and boil them for 10 minutes before placing them in the pre-greased waffle maker; or we fry the plantains on both sides in a pan with oil and pieces of garlic until they are golden.

Ingredients
- 1 –2 macho plantains
- Salt
- Garlic to taste
- Extra virgin olive oil spray
Instructions
- First, cut the green plantain into pieces about 5 centimeters long.
- Then, peel them using a knife.
- If you choose the healthier method, boil the plantains for 10 minutes in plenty of boiling salted water. If you opt for the traditional version, fry the plantains in a pan with oil and small pieces of garlic until they are golden on both sides.
- Once that step is complete, drain the plantains to remove the water, or place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb the oil.
- Heat your waffle maker with the plates in place, and once it reaches the maximum temperature, spray a small amount of extra virgin olive oil on the plates.
- Place the plantain pieces in the waffle maker, close it, and let them finish cooking until the indicator turns off.
- You can serve them with tuna tartare, guacamole, shrimp… or simply enjoy them as is.
