King cake is a typically French recipe for Epiphany. It is very quick to prepare (unlike the long hours of fermentation needed for the Spanish roscón de reyes) so is ideal for those seeking a quick dessert to celebrate this day.

Ingredients
- 150 g of butter at room temperature
- 150 g of sugar
- 150 g of crushed almonds
- 25 g of flour
- 2 eggs
- 1 tablespoon of orange liqueur
- 2 round sheets of puff pastry
- 1 beaten egg for the egg wash
Instructions
- Insert the blade accessory into your ChefBot and add all the ingredients to the workbowl except the sheets of puff pastry and grind for 30 seconds at speed 4.
- Use a spatula to push down any food that gets stuck to the sides and grind again for another 30 seconds at speed 4.
- Pre-heat the oven to 200°.
- Lay out a sheet of puff pastry and spread the cream while leaving a 2cm gap around the edges with no cream. Brush the egg wash over that gap.
- Place the other sheet of puff pastry over the top and press down hard on the edges to seal.
- Use the back of a knife to mark the shape of a sun from the centre to the edges.
- Brush with the egg wash and bake for 25-30 minutes. If it starts going too golden, cover with aluminium foil until the cooking time is up.
